Speakeasy seeds started as an American seed shop selling low THC seeds in Oregon in 2018. There’s no social media presence for Speak Easy Seeds, but they do have a Patreon that gives members or subscribers special perks. They have developed their brand around the idea of the underground, members-only drinking clubs of the early twentieth century because they want their brand to appear somewhat exclusive, laid back, and unconventional. Their curator is a person who calls themself Blind Tiger, who personally vets each one of their seeds. They are a bit strange in that they only accept Bitcoin or card payments using MESH to complete orders. They send orders out within five business days of your payment clearing, so paying with Bitcoin can get your package on its way within a business week. Location wise, they ship only to Canada and the United States.
This website is pretty esoteric, even by cannabis seed bank standards. Clicking on Shop sends you to a gallery collection of links. Almost all of these links have a near-identical graphic save for the title of the breeder that is being highlighted. For a new person to the site there’s virtually no way to distinguish these links, and there’s nothing enticing about clicking any of them. But once you take a chance and click one, you’re met with yet another page of uniform links. This time, you can tell that you’re closer to actual seeds, since these have names that sound like the alternate universe names for strains you know and love. However, there’s still nothing distinguishing one from another. Clicking on the product pages doesn’t get you any closer to figuring out what’s going on either. The descriptions are sparse and consist only of the name of the strains, the lineage which consists of more bizarro-strain names, the Brand which if you hadn’t figure out was the first graphic that was clicked earlier, the number of seeds in a pack, something called the Process, which is apparently regular slash natural, and the achievements of the strain. We’re not sure what that means either. There’s literally nothing else. No pictures, no growing instructions, no recommendations, no flavors, just some words that will only mean things to you if you’re already a member who is familiar with their products. Clicking on their blog is not much help. Instead of articles, you find announcements of events that are either virtual or at a secret location. In order to get early access to these events, you have to be a VIP member. We’re still not sure what access means in this case, but we bet it might be cool? Judging from the graphics and vibe, it seems like a psychedelic time. We’re sure that people who are in the know with Speak Easy Seedbank know exactly what’s up. We imagine that once you head to one of these events, this website makes a lot more sense.
