Organic Earth is a Dutch seed bank, based in Maastricht in the Netherlands, that provides seeds from thirty-two different breeders. They’ve been around since 1992 according to their masthead. They’re not only a seed retailer, but a site dedicated to providing organic gardening supplies. They have a blog site for news and sections focused on cultivation, nutrients, and pest control. They sell eleven different autoflowering strains, seventeen different feminized ones, at least five regular unsexed, and eight high CBD strains. Organic Earth’s product pages for their seeds have a tabs layout that divides the Description section from the Additional Information. The Description gives the reader information about how the plant grows, how they advise you to treat it during its lifespan, and what the flavors and high is like. The Additional Information section lists the strain’s genetics, its flavors, and specs regarding what phenotype it is, estimated flowering time, and a value judgement on whether the yield and height of the plant are small or large. It also lists the number of seeds you get in each package as well as the dimensions and weight of the seed packet. Organic Earth only ships within Europe, including the UK but not Russia or the Ukraine. They take direct bank transfers, iDEAL, Bancontact, Giropay, and Mybank for Dutch, Belgian, German, and Italian customers respectively.
This website’s dropdowns within dropdowns menu format, when viewed on a narrow browser window or on a mobile phone, is very disorienting and difficult to navigate. Even on a full screen desktop, the menus still have an irritating habit of disappearing on a whim if you’re not careful. It’s also very difficult to get a sense of the full depth of their larders when you’re only able to browse their seeds by breeder and not by type or quality. There is a lot going on on this site, and sometimes it’s difficult to distinguish between the parts of it that are portals and those that are just banners put in for design. Especially on their front page, it’s tough to figure out when the site begins when the front page is just a pile of banners. We’re also not totally sure about their intentions when it comes to their selling of products related to nutrients, pest control, and organic growing. Their nutrients section is very clearly also a partnered effort, as they are specifically trying to sell consumers their brands of solutions and solid fertilizers. It makes sense to provide information about organic gardening on a site called Organic Earth, but there’s no information here. Instead, when you click on their sections devoted to growing techniques, you’re presented with a bunch of different products. We suppose it’s a little dodgy to expect a growing house who has partnered with specific lighting and fertilizer manufacturers to be providing unbiased growing information, but it would be nice to, at least, have a little information. That being said, we love that they also sell nasturtium and other companion planter seeds. A good effort!
