The Ontario Cannabis Store is a state-sanctioned dispensary that exists to meet the personal cannabis needs of people living in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was established in 2018, when weed was legalized for recreational use in Canada. They generally carry around one hundred different kinds of seeds, though are often sold out of some of them. Seeds they carry are from licensed Canadian cannabis producers like Pure Sunfarms, Weathered Island Craft, Abide, Parkland Flower, 34 Street Seed Co., and Dutch Passion. Their seeds generally come in packs of either five or ten. This site carries a bunch of different cannabis products, including edibles, flower, topicals, beverages, vape cartridges, and concentrates. They also provide blog information about different cannabis-related topics. Much like in America, cannabis is regulated on a province to province basis in Canada, though unlike America it’s been legalized for recreational use all across the country with very little difference in laws other than how much is legal to cultivate or possess. This is all to say that, as a white market seed house, this site won’t ship anywhere outside of the province of Ontario. If you’re a customer within Canada who is also living on one of Ontario’s many First Nations reserves, it should also be noted that your reserve might have specifically asked the province not to deliver to your territory. The selection at the OCS is a combination of feminized, CBD, autoflowering, and unsexed regular seeds.
As far as usability of the website itself goes, Canadian dispensaries tend to have very streamlined, if somewhat clunky, web pages. These sites can be somewhat difficult to browse quickly, and their rollover menus are a little too big. The product pages for these seeds have a medium amount of information. Though there isn’t a lot of specific growing information on most of them, they do come with fairly uniform information on things like estimated THC and CBD, origins of the seeds, and flowering period averages. When you buy seeds or weed from the Ontario government, their products have to conform to certain high standards that the government of Canada set out when they legalized it. You’ll know that what you’re getting is what it says on the package. A setback is that it’s not always easy to find the strains you’re after, since many of the more apocryphal ones are still being tested and stabilized in labs before they’re considered safe for consumption by Health Canada. Nevertheless, the Ontario Cannabis Store has a really impressive selection of seeds for a legal dispensary. Most of the time, there are maybe two different seed strains on a state dispensary site and they are almost always sold out. So to have a site that not only actually has a selection of seeds, but a wide selection of strains and styles on top of that is a breath of fresh air. Overall, if you live in Ontario, the OCS is a surprisingly solid choice for seeds.
